The end of term is wonderful but bananas: last-minute rehearsals, glitter everywhere, tired voices, shifting timetables, and somehow a whole class still looking to you for structure. 🎄✨
If you’re a busy teacher who needs something quick, calm and meaningful, this one’s for you.
We’ve put together a free Nativity story pack: the perfect low-effort, high-impact activity when you’ve got a million things to juggle.
In this classic tale of the Nativity, join Mary and Joseph in a Bethlehem stable for the story of the birth of Jesus Christ where guided by a star, shepherds and wise men brought gifts for Jesus Christ on the day that marks the first Christmas.
Use it as: ⭐ a 10-minute calm-down ⭐ a ‘the-plan-just-changed’ filler ⭐ a ready-to-go festive activity ⭐ or a last-week assembly with zero prep
The last days of term are nearly here: the glitter, the concerts, the wobbling timetables… and the very tired teachers. 🎄✨
If you need a quick way to settle the room, fill ten meaningful minutes, or run an instant assembly, here’s a gentle reminder: our free Nativity story pack is ready whenever you are.
In this classic tale of the Nativity, join Mary and Joseph in a Bethlehem stable for the story of the birth of Jesus Christ where guided by a star, shepherds and wise men brought gifts for Jesus Christ on the day that marks the first Christmas.
Perfect for all ages. Perfect for the final weeks. Perfect for a moment of calm.
Amid the glitter, concerts and end-of-term chaos, sometimes you just need a moment of calm in the classroom. ✨
We’re sharing a free Nativity story pack - perfect for all age groups, and ideal for settling the room, filling 10 minutes with meaning, or even leading a whole-school assembly.
In this classic tale of the Nativity, join Mary and Joseph in a Bethlehem stable for the story of the birth of Jesus Christ where guided by a star, shepherds and wise men brought gifts for Jesus Christ on the day that marks the first Christmas.
During YFOS25, we sent out feedback forms after every event. And when we went back to see the responses once the Festival had finished, we found something incredible.
Across seven days, you had sent us stories of families watching together, evenings in with live music, and workshops that had transformed perspectives. Some of you joined from Yorkshire villages. Others from cities across the UK. Others from far beyond. Yet every night felt like a shared fire.
Thank you - for showing up, for listening deeply, and for reminding us that stories still bring people together.
For one extraordinary week in November, stories travelled further than we ever imagined. Every evening, as kettles clicked off and the dark pressed in at the windows, something began to glow, not just in Yorkshire, but across the world.
YFOS25 reached audiences on five continents, with families, schools and lifelong story lovers logging in from living rooms, classrooms, care homes and kitchen tables. Thousands joined live. Thousands are still returning on replay. And across the week, the chat was alive with people connecting across borders, backgrounds and time zones.
One small festival in the Dales, carrying stories across the world. That’s the quiet power of YFOS.
We know many of you are still buzzing from YFOS - the stories, the voices, the moments that stayed with you long after the livestream ended.
But here’s the bit we don’t want you to miss: everything is still there for you in the Members’ Area.
Every performance. Every conversation. Every workshop. Every moment you didn’t have time to catch - or want to experience again.
If the festival passed in a blur, or life pulled you away, the Members’ Area means you haven’t missed a thing. It’s your space to return to the stories that moved you, watch the ones you were curious about, and savour the festival in your own time.
So pour a cuppa, settle in, and enjoy YFOS all over again. Your festival is still waiting for you.
Teachers know that moment when a story changes the whole room. The fidgeter leans in, the quiet child looks up, the class travels together.
What if that moment wasn’t accidental? What if it could happen every day?
Start With Story, by Sita Brand and primary teacher Emma Thompson (foreword by Jean Gross CBE), is finally here - a simple, powerful framework that helps you use any story to teach any subject, in minutes.
Not more work. Not another scheme. Just a smarter way to teach.
Inside you’ll find: ✔ A three-question method that makes learning stick ✔ Ready-to-use curriculum links ✔ A real five-minute planning template ✔ Strategies that boost engagement and save time
Teachers are already saying: “This finally gives us a way to use stories without adding to our workload.”
If you want calmer lessons, deeper learning and children who remember what you teach, then this book is for you.

We’re still thinking about last week - the energy, the connection, the courage that flowed through every corner of YFOS.
Stories brought people together in ways that felt rare and needed. From quiet moments of reflection to packed sessions buzzing with excitement, you helped create a festival full of heart. Audiences tuned in from across the world. Families watched together. Teachers told us their pupils were inspired. And so many of you found a story that stayed with you.
If you want to return to those moments, or discover the ones you missed, our Members’ Catch-Up is still open. Every event is there for you to revisit in your own time, wherever you are. You can find out more at yorkshirefestivalofstory.com/catch-up/.
Thank you for being part of this extraordinary community of listeners and storytellers.
Something happens in a classroom the moment a story begins. Shoulders drop. Eyes lift. Even the fidgeters go still. Every teacher knows that shift, that magic.
But what if that magic wasn’t accidental? What if it could happen every day, in every subject, with any story?
Something new is coming. Something designed for busy teachers, not to add more to your workload, but to transform what’s already there.
A simple way to make learning stick. A way to use stories to teach science, history, English, anything, in minutes, not hours. A way to harness what children naturally lean into.
It’s practical. It’s powerful. And it might just change the way your classroom feels.
Keep watching. A new chapter is about to begin… 📘✨ ... See MoreSee Less

Day Four at YFOS25 - Courage across continents!
Yesterday the festival reached from Yorkshire to the world - from the incredible true tale of Madan Lal Dhingra, to the African Stories from Mara and Papillion, weaving together voices of strength, wisdom and hope.
In Settle and online, audiences were moved by storytellers who showed that courage takes many forms - quiet defiance, shared laughter, and the simple act of listening deeply.
✨ With the weekend approaching, the best is still to come - workshops, family stories and headline performances you won’t want to miss.
